Hello Economic Anthropologists!
So much awesome SEA stuff to tell you about.
First— for grad students and mentors— please note that this year’s Halperin Predissertation Award and the M. Estellie Smith Dissertation Award have been announced! The due date for both applications is 20 Dec 2019. The Halerperin Award provides $1500 plus $500 travel funds to present your results at an SEA meeting. The M. Estellie Smith Award provides $2000 plus $500 travel funds to present your results at an SEA meeting.
Second — for grad students — if you are going to AAAs in Vancouver, consider attending the Navigating the Academic Job Market Panel Discussion, Thursday, 21 Nov 2019, Vancouver Convention Centre East, Room 12. Free food!
Third — Lots of cool SEA things planned for AAAs in Vancouver. SEA is sponsoring or cosponsoring 18 different sessions, about everything from property to household debt to the World Bank, entrepreneurship, the Art market, disasters, sharing, climate change, and cashlessness. Consider attending the Business Meeting, Friday, 22 Nov 2019, at 12:15pm, in the Convention Centre West room 121; and the SEA Reception, Friday, 22 Nov 2019, at 8:00pm, in the Pan Pacific Vancouver Hotel, Oceanview 2.
Fourth — mark your calendars, the Spring SEA meeting, theme: Convenience, will be at Notre Dame University in South Bend, Indiana, April 30 – May 2. Look for a call for papers in November. Thanks to Rahul Oka, Sammantha Zepponi, and Rieti Gengo.
Fifth — our heroic webmaster, Dawn Rivers, has rebuilt the SEA Website anew. Check it out! Let us know if you see any missing content, and let us know what you would like to see on the site.
There is more, but that’ll do for now!
