The Society for Economic Anthropology (SEA) is seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Website & Digital Content Manager to oversee the maintenance, updates, and digital presence of the SEA website and its associated channels. This is a part-time, stipended position ideal for a graduate student, early-career scholar, or professional with basic WordPress and digital management skills looking to serve the anthropology community.

Honorarium: $750 per year (paid annually in December)
Estimated Time Commitment: Low/flexible throughout most of the year (approx. 1–2 hours/month), with brief peak periods around spring/fall meetings and leadership transitions.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and update the SEA WordPress site. Tasks include publishing announcements, updating leadership rosters post-AAA meetings, and building/updating pages for the Spring and Fall annual meetings. (Note: System backups are automated, and original site designer remains available for technical support.
- Format and publish monthly podcast (Mergers & Acquisitions) episodes and show notes. This involves uploading 1–2 images, linking the MP3 file for podcast syndication, and pasting host-provided notes (approx. 10–30 minutes per episode).
- Monitor and manage standard institutional email aliases (e.g., info@, webmaster@, and podcast@), routing inquiries to leadership as necessary, with potential to expand routing to executive roles (e.g., president@).
Maintain secure password and credential records to ensure smooth handoffs for future transitions. - Communicate with SEA president as needed to keep up to date with events and announcements.
Qualifications & Skills
- WordPress Proficiency: Comfortable formatting posts, updating text, creating basic pages, and uploading media.
- Basic Digital Literacy: Familiarity with managing email inboxes and handling MP3/image uploads for podcasts.
- Organization & Reliability: Ability to check communication channels regularly and meet quick turnaround times during peak meeting seasons or podcast drops.
Training & Transition
The incoming Manager will receive a comprehensive handoff. The outgoing manager will provide all passwords and transition materials, and the site’s designer/host will be available to train the new hire on back-end specifics and assist with any technical troubleshooting.
